Training
Most shops treat a training standard as a logo in the footer. It is worth more space than that, because it is the thing that decides whether a repair on a modern vehicle is planned correctly before it starts.
I-CAR Gold Class is an ongoing industry training standard for collision repair. The word ongoing is the important part: it is not a certificate earned once and hung on a wall, it is a standard a shop has to keep meeting as vehicles change.
This shop has built its collision repair process around recognized industry training since 2008. That is a long enough run to cover several generations of vehicle construction, including the shift to mixed materials and to the sensor packages that now sit behind ordinary body panels.
In practice it means repair planning treats mixed materials, welded and bonded panels, restraint systems, cameras, sensors and refinish work as one connected job rather than a sequence of separate tasks. That is the difference training makes, and it happens at the planning stage, before anyone picks up a tool.
On an aluminum-and-steel truck it decides how the two materials are kept apart. On a car with a camera behind the windshield it decides what has to be accounted for when the glass is disturbed. On any vehicle with restraint systems it decides what cannot be treated as ordinary panel work.
None of that is visible on the finished car, which is rather the point.
